Introduction to Lee Westwood

Lee Westwood is one of the most decorated golfers in European Tour history. Born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire in 1973, the Englishman turned professional in 1993 and went on to accumulate 25 European Tour titles over a career spanning three decades. He reached world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking in 2010, becoming the first British player to hold that position since Nick Faldo. A mainstay of Ryder Cup squads for Europe, Westwood made ten consecutive appearances in the biennial contest and is regarded as one of the most reliable and technically sound ball-strikers his generation produced. Away from the tour, he has remained a respected figure in the sport as both a commentator presence and a Ryder Cup captain's pick-era elder statesman.

The Lee Westwood watch collection, as far as public sightings go, points firmly toward Audemars Piguet. At the trophy presentation following his 25th European Tour victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, Westwood was photographed wearing the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph reference 26402CB — a 44mm model built from white ceramic, a material that requires significantly more complex machining than conventional steel. The ref. 26402CB has since been discontinued, which has only increased interest in the piece among collectors. It sits within the larger Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph family but distinguishes itself through that ceramic construction and the relatively restrained white-on-white aesthetic that separates it from more aggressive Offshore variants.

Westwood's choice of the 26402CB says something about where his taste sits. It is a large, technically ambitious watch but not a garish one — the white ceramic gives it a cooler, more considered look than the rubber-strapped, heavily contrasted versions that dominate the Offshore line. For a golfer who built his career on consistency and precision rather than flash, the reference fits.

White ceramic was a bold material choice for the Royal Oak Offshore, and the 26402CB remains one of the most visually striking variants AP ever produced — its silver dial and contrasting blue chronograph registers creating a composition few competitors could match. Lee Westwood wore the discontinued piece on his wrist during the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship ceremony, the occasion marking his 25th European Tour title. A champion's watch for a champion's moment.
