Drake was recently spotted on the wrist with what can only be described as one of the most extraordinary Patek Philippe Nautilus variants in private hands — a fully gem-set pièce unique reference 5726 encrusted with baguette-cut green emeralds across virtually every surface of the watch. For a collector already known for owning some of the rarest timepieces on earth, this sighting still stops the room.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726 is, in standard configuration, no ordinary watch. Introduced in 2006 and built around the calibre 324 S QA LU 24H automatic movement, it delivers a genuine annual calendar — displaying date, day, month, and moon phase through apertures set within that instantly recognizable horizontally embossed dial — requiring a single manual correction just once per year, at the end of February. The case measures 40.5mm in stainless steel, or in precious metal variants, and rides on the sculpted integrated bracelet that Gerald Genta sketched on a napkin in 1972. The reference has since been discontinued in steel, making surviving examples increasingly significant.

What Drake wears is something categorically different. Patek Philippe's gem-setting workshops in Geneva are among the most technically demanding in the industry, and covering the Nautilus 5726's angular, architecturally complex case and bracelet links with uniform baguette-cut emeralds — stones that demand precise calibration in both cut and colour to sit flush — represents hundreds of hours of atelier work. A pièce unique by definition exists as a single object; no catalogue entry, no repeat production, no comparable sale.

Drake's watch collecting history is well documented. He has worn Pateks, Rolexes, and Richard Milles in configurations that rarely appear at retail, and his Patek relationship in particular reflects a collector who engages directly at the maison level. A commission of this nature suggests exactly that kind of relationship.

On the market, the standard Nautilus 5726A in steel already commands significant grey-market premiums following its discontinuation, trading well above retail in clean condition. A pièce unique emerald set example has no direct comparable — auction estimates for similarly spec'd Patek jewellery commissions have exceeded seven figures. What Drake has on his wrist is, practically speaking, priceless by conventional market metrics.
