Television presenter Linus spotted wearing a IWC

Linus, the veteran broadcaster and artistic director of Radio Deejay, was recently photographed wearing a titanium IWC GST Aquatimer Chronograph Automatic, reference IW3719-03 — a discontinued model that quietly occupies a respected corner of the IWC catalogue's history.
The IW3719-03 belongs to the GST Aquatimer family that IWC produced through the late 1990s and into the early 2000s. The GST acronym — Gold, Steel, Titanium — described the case material options available across the range, and the titanium variant offered a compelling combination of lightness and durability. Water resistance was rated to 200 metres, backed by a screw-down crown and solid case construction that made the watch genuinely functional as a dive-adjacent sports chronograph rather than a purely aesthetic exercise.
Power came from the IWC calibre 79320, a robust automatic chronograph movement based on the ETA Valjoux 7750 architecture. The 7750 has long been respected for its reliability and ease of servicing — IWC regulated and finished it to their own standards. The black dial variant, as worn by Linus, features the characteristic tri-colour subdial layout of the 7750-based chronograph, with 30-minute and 12-hour counters flanking the running seconds. Case diameter sits at 42mm, substantial for the era but balanced by the low density of the titanium construction.
Collectors regard the GST Aquatimer Chronograph as an undervalued piece in the broader IWC secondary market. It lacks the profile of the Big Pilot or Portofino, but rewards those who value purposeful engineering over prestige branding. The discontinuation of the entire GST line means clean examples are finite and growing harder to source in good condition.
Linus — whose real name is Davide Lippi — is one of Italy's most recognisable media voices, known for a distinctly understated public persona. His choice of a discontinued, titanium tool-watch chronograph rather than anything overtly flashy reads as entirely consistent with that image. On the grey market, examples of the IWC GST Aquatimer Chronograph Ref. IW3719-03 currently trade in the region of approximately €3,800, representing genuine value for a Swiss-made automatic chronograph with authentic IWC provenance.
