Vanguart, the Barcelona-based independent manufacture, built the Black Hole around a proprietary in-house movement that integrates a flying tourbillon, a jumping-minutes automaton display, a power reserve indicator, and a countdown mode — a combination of complications that would be ambitious at any price point. What sets the Black Hole apart from virtually every other complicated watch on the market is its patented mechanical joystick, a physical control mechanism machined into the case that allows the wearer to navigate between functions and set time without conventional pushers or a crown. The interface is deliberately tactile and engineering-forward, more aerospace instrument than traditional dress watch.

The asymmetric case architecture, visible on Harden's wrist as a dark, multi-layered form, houses the exposed flying tourbillon at roughly the dial center, surrounded by concentric rings bearing hour and minute numerals in a distinctly non-traditional layout. The titanium execution keeps weight manageable despite the case's considerable size. Production is capped at eight pieces per material variant — titanium, rose gold, and platinum — making total global production a figure most independent collectors can count on two hands.

Harden has previously been photographed with Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet, and other high-complication independents, but the Vanguart represents a step further into genuine horological obscurity. This is not a watch that reads as a status symbol to general audiences — it rewards only those already deep in the independent watchmaking world, which makes the choice feel personally motivated rather than commercially curated.

At a retail price of $315,000 and a production run of eight units in titanium, secondary market data is essentially nonexistent, though comparable ultra-limited independent tourbillons from Barcelona and other emerging manufacture cities have demonstrated strong appreciation among informed collectors. The Vanguart Black Hole is the kind of watch that does not surface at auction — it circulates quietly, and a wrist like Harden's is about as public as it gets.
