Who & what: Stainless Steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Ref. 26400SO Blue Camouflage Dial Rubber Bracelet

Scottie Pippen has never been shy about wearing serious horology, and his latest sighting confirms he has a collector's eye for limited production references. The Chicago Bulls legend was recently photographed wearing the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore ref. 26400SO, a stainless steel piece distinguished by its blue camouflage dial and black rubber bracelet — one of only 400 examples ever produced.

The Royal Oak Offshore ref. 26400SO sits within the wider 26400 family, which AP introduced as the evolution of the original 25721 Offshore launched in 1993 by designer Emmanuel Gueit. The 44mm stainless steel case retains the hallmark octagonal bezel secured by eight hex-head screws, the oversized crown guards, and the tapisserie-patterned dial architecture — here reimagined in a bold blue camouflage motif that gives the watch an almost military-tactical character. The case is water-resistant to 100 metres and sits at a substantial but wearable 14.4mm in height.

Powering the watch is Audemars Piguet's in-house calibre 3126/3840, a self-winding movement with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism, 59 jewels, and a generous 60-hour power reserve. The movement operates at 21,600 vph and is visible through the sapphire case back. For collectors, this level of in-house finishing justifies much of the premium attached to the reference.

The 26400SO's limited edition status — 400 pieces globally — makes it a genuine rarity in a line that already commands strong secondary market attention. The blue camouflage execution is considered one of the more desirable dial variants within the 26400 series, appealing to collectors who want the Offshore's athletic DNA expressed with genuine visual distinctiveness rather than a routine colourway update.

Pippen's affinity for the Royal Oak Offshore is well-documented across multiple sightings over the years, fitting for an athlete whose career peak coincided with the watch's own rise to cultural prominence in the 1990s. Listed at £33,000 in the UK market at retail, the 26400SO trades on the secondary market at a notable premium given its sold-out limited edition status, with grey market prices reflecting consistent demand from both sports figures and dedicated AP collectors.
