The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1P was introduced in 2016 to celebrate four decades since Gerald Genta's landmark porthole-inspired design first debuted in 1976. Patek produced a strictly limited run of 700 numbered pieces, each housed in a 40mm platinum case — a first for the 5711 line, which had previously been offered in stainless steel, yellow gold, and white gold. The dial presents a deep blue-to-black gradient that plays beautifully against the cool grey tone of the platinum case and integrated bracelet. The platinum anniversary edition, limited and immediately absorbed by the market upon release, has never truly been accessible to the general public. It is the sort of reference that appears at auction or in private sales — rarely, and never cheaply.

Pras Michel has maintained a relatively low public profile in recent years, making his appearance with the 5711/1P a notable moment. It speaks to a collector instinct that goes beyond celebrity watch culture — acquiring the 40th Anniversary Nautilus requires both access and conviction, not simply means.

On the current grey market, examples of the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1P trade well above their original retail price, reflecting sustained global demand for the reference and the broader Nautilus family. For those fortunate enough to own one, it is emphatically not for sale.
