Who & what: Platinum Patek Philippe Nautilus Reference 5711/110P Grey Dial 32 Baguette Diamond Bezel

Harry Kane, one of the most recognisable forwards in world football, was recently spotted on the wrist of the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/110P — a platinum and diamond variant of the reference that makes the standard steel 5711/1A look almost restrained by comparison. For a model already defined by scarcity and obsessive collector demand, the 5711/110P occupies a category of its own.

The Nautilus reference 5711 was introduced in 1976, designed by Gerald Genta as a luxury sports watch in stainless steel. The 5711 generation, launched in 2006, refined the case to 40mm and housed Patek's Calibre 315 SC — a 28,800 vph self-winding movement with a 45-hour power reserve, offering hours, minutes, seconds and date. The 5711/110P elevates the platform entirely: the case and integrated bracelet are rendered in 950 platinum, the horizontal-embossed grey dial is flanked by 32 baguette-cut diamonds set into the octagonal bezel, and 12 additional baguette diamonds replace the traditional applied hour markers. It is factory-set, meaning Patek Philippe itself executes the stone work — a critical distinction for collectors.

The 5711 series was formally discontinued by Patek Philippe in January 2021, a decision that immediately detonated secondary market prices across all references. The platinum and diamond variants had always commanded a significant premium over the steel models, but post-discontinuation the 5711/110P has become genuinely illiquid — there are simply not enough examples in circulation to satisfy demand from serious collectors and institutions. A list price of approximately $160,000 now corresponds to a grey-market valuation north of $1.4 million, representing a multiplier that few assets in any category can rival.

Harry Kane's watch collection is well-documented among football watchers and horology enthusiasts alike. The England captain has demonstrated a consistent preference for technically and aesthetically significant pieces, and the 5711/110P is not an impulse purchase — it requires either direct access to a Patek Philippe authorised dealer relationship or the willingness to engage the secondary market at substantial cost.

For collectors tracking the 5711/110P, Kane's sighting adds cultural visibility to a reference that needs none. The watch's fundamentals — movement quality, manufacture finishing, platinum execution and factory diamond set — are sufficient on their own. Market prices remain elevated and supply is structurally constrained; neither condition shows any sign of reversing.
