The ref. 5711/1A-018 is built on the architecture of the outgoing Nautilus 5711/1A, the Gerald Genta-designed sports icon that Patek Philippe discontinued in 2021. Powered by the in-house caliber 26-330 S C — a self-winding movement with a 45-hour power reserve, Gyromax balance, and Spiromax hairspring — the watch runs at 28,800 vph and delivers chronometric performance that justifies its manufacture status. The 40mm stainless steel case with its distinctive horizontally embossed dial and integrated bracelet remains unchanged from the standard model. What sets the 018 apart is the vivid Tiffany Blue dial, finished in the jeweler's signature robin's-egg hue, and the dual Tiffany & Co stamp appearing both on the dial and caseback alongside Patek Philippe's own signatures.

Limited to exactly 170 pieces — one for each year of the Tiffany-Patek relationship — the 5711/1A-018 was offered exclusively through Tiffany & Co boutiques at a list price of approximately $52,000. Demand was, predictably, impossible to satisfy. When Phillips auctioned an example in December 2021, the hammer fell at $6.5 million, establishing an auction record for a Nautilus and signaling just how distorted secondary market dynamics had become around the 5711 reference at the moment of its retirement.

For a musician of Sotti's profile — an artist who moves fluidly between jazz tradition and contemporary production — the choice reads less as conspicuous consumption and more as considered connoisseurship. The Nautilus has long attracted a creative, internationally mobile clientele who value understatement combined with pedigree, and the Tiffany edition adds a layer of American cultural history to that Swiss watchmaking narrative.

On the grey market, examples of the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-018 trade in a wide band depending on provenance and condition, but realistic transaction prices remain well into seven figures — a staggering premium over retail that shows no meaningful signs of correction. As the last expression of the 5711 reference and a document of two iconic brands converging, it is unlikely to depreciate in collector memory anytime soon.
