The Nautilus 5711/1A-011 sits at the centre of modern watch collecting lore. Launched in 1976 by Gerald Genta as a luxury sports watch in stainless steel, the Nautilus broke conventions by charging a premium for a material then considered entry-level. The 5711 generation, introduced in 2006, refined the design to a 40mm case housing the calibre 324 S C — a self-winding movement with a 45-hour power reserve, beating at 21,600 vph, and finishing levels that far exceed what the dial aperture ever reveals. On the grey market, a stock 5711/1A-011 still trades between $130,000 and $160,000 depending on condition and papers. The iced-out variant occupies a different pricing universe — the aftermarket diamond work is estimated to bring the total cost to approximately $60,000 above a base secondary market acquisition, placing the wrist value of this specific piece well into six figures.
