The 116400GV houses Rolex's in-house Calibre 3131, a self-winding movement featuring a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring — itself an anti-magnetic component — beating at 28,800 vph and offering approximately 48 hours of power reserve. The defining visual signatures of the reference are the distinctive lightning-bolt seconds hand and, on the GV variant, a green sapphire crystal that casts a subtle tint across the dial. MAD Paris, founded by designer Benjamin Koll, occupies a specific and increasingly respected niche: the studio acquires new Rolex references and subjects them to high-quality modifications — skeletonized dials, custom lacquer work, PVD treatments — that Rolex itself would never sanction. The results are polarizing among purists but command serious secondary-market premiums and have attracted a devoted following among fashion-forward collectors who find the standard catalogue too conservative.

Goldblum's association with the Milgauss carries its own logic. Dr. Malcolm, the recurring Jurassic Park intellectual, is a character defined by scientific credibility wrapped in idiosyncratic personal style — precisely the kind of wearer for whom a customized anti-magnetic Rolex reads as authentic rather than affected.
