It is not the oldest perpetual calendar Patek makes, nor the most overtly complicated, but the combination of an integrated chronograph movement — rather than a modified ebauche — with a perpetual calendar module places it in genuinely rarefied company. Waitlists at authorised dealers are substantial, and the reference rarely appears at retail without a pre-existing relationship with an AD.

Ricciardo has long signalled an interest in serious watchmaking beyond the obvious sportswear-adjacent endorsements that dominate the paddock. Wearing a reference of this caliber on a daytime television appearance, rather than a race weekend or a gala event, suggests genuine affinity rather than occasion dressing.
