Alberto Galassi, chief executive of the Ferretti Group — the Italian multinational behind prestige yacht brands including Riva, Pershing, and Itama — was spotted wearing what may be the most technically and materially exclusive version of the Royal Oak 'Jumbo' currently in production: the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Extra-Thin reference 15202PT in platinum with a soleil green dial.

The 15202PT debuted in 2021 as the first Royal Oak 'Jumbo' ever produced entirely in platinum. The 39mm case follows the original proportions set by Gerald Genta's landmark 1972 design, retaining the integrated bracelet, the eight-hexagonal-screw bezel, and the tapisserie dial — here rendered in a deep soleil green that catches light in a way neither sunburst nor standard green lacquer achieves. The integrated bracelet replicates the same flush, architecturally precise construction of the original 5402, demanding hand-finishing at a level that few manufactures attempt in platinum. Case thickness sits at just 8.1mm.

At the heart of the 15202PT beats Calibre 2121, the movement that has defined the Royal Oak 'Jumbo' since inception. Developed originally by Jaeger-LeCoultre as the 920, the 2121 measures just 3.05mm in height and 28.4mm in diameter — still among the thinnest automatic movements ever engineered. It oscillates at 19,800 vph and offers a 40-hour power reserve. In platinum, regulating the movement to chronometric standards requires additional work due to the metal's density and its effect on the oscillating weight's behavior.

Collector significance is substantial. The 15202PT is an AP House exclusive, meaning it bypasses the standard retail network entirely and is allocated only to clients with established relationships with Audemars Piguet's flagship boutiques. The green dial colorway, combined with the platinum case and bracelet, makes this among the rarest configurations in the entire 15202 lineage — a reference already notorious for allocation scarcity.

Galassi's professional world — building and selling yachts that routinely exceed eight figures — aligns naturally with a watch that occupies a comparable position: singular craftsmanship, restrained aesthetics, and an audience that does not need to be told what they are looking at. On the grey market, the 15202PT commands a significant premium over its already elevated list price, with demand consistently outpacing availability.
