About Luca Parmitano’s watch collection

Luca Parmitano is an Italian astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA) who has completed two long-duration missions aboard the International Space Station. He served as flight engineer on Expedition 36/37 and later as commander of Expedition 60/61, accumulating over 367 days in space across his missions. Parmitano has conducted multiple spacewalks and is confirmed as pilot for the forthcoming Artemis III mission, where he will oversee in-orbit testing of docking technologies for the Orion spacecraft during Earth orbit operations.

Parmitano's professional background in spaceflight has shaped his approach to timekeeping. His Luca Parmitano watch collection centres on Omega, the brand with the longest heritage in crewed space exploration. During a June 2026 appearance on the Italian television programme Che Tempo Che Fa, Parmitano wore a stainless steel Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Ref. 311.30.42.30.01.001, featuring a black dial and Hesalite crystal. This model carries NASA flight-qualified status and represents the standard bearer of the Speedmaster line.

Beyond the Professional, Parmitano has also been spotted wearing the Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 Ref. 318.90.45.79.01.001 in titanium. Developed specifically for astronauts and equipped with a digital display alongside traditional hands, the X-33 was designed to meet the rigorous demands of spaceflight operations. The selection of both models reflects Parmitano's connection to NASA-certified spaceflight instruments and Omega's role as the official timekeeper for space missions.
