About Eric Clapton’s watch collection

Eric Clapton is a British guitarist, singer, and songwriter who emerged as a leading figure in rock music during the 1960s. His career spans decades, marked by his work with bands including The Yardbirds, Cream, and Derek and the Dominos, followed by a successful solo career. Known for his technical skill and blues-influenced playing style, Clapton has received numerous Grammy Awards and inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Eric Clapton watch collection reflects a preference for haute horlogerie and mechanical precision rather than contemporary showpieces. His taste gravitates toward Patek Philippe, the Geneva manufacture known for complex complications. Spotted wearing the Patek Philippe 5270P, a platinum perpetual calendar chronograph with white dial and moonphase indicator, Clapton has also been photographed with earlier iterations of Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronographs including references 5004P/5004G and 2499, both in precious metals. These watches represent some of the most technically demanding timepieces produced.

Balancing his haute horlogerie focus, Clapton's collection includes significant vintage Rolex sports watches. He has been spotted with the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Reference 6239, the legendary "Paul Newman" model in stainless steel with white panda dial, and the Reference 6263 "Oyster Albino" variant, both significant pieces in Rolex collecting history. More recently, he wore a Rolex GMT-Master II Reference 116710LN in oystersteel with black bezel. These acquisitions indicate Clapton's appreciation for both complications and sporting watchmaking heritage.
