About Konstantin Chaykin’s watch collection

Konstantin Chaykin is a Russian independent watchmaker and the founder of the watch manufacture bearing his name, based in Moscow. He is one of the few working watchmakers to hold the title of member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), a distinction reserved for craftspeople who design and build their own movements from scratch. Chaykin began developing complicated movements in the early 2000s and established his manufacture in 2003, going on to create a body of work that spans moon phase indications, religious calendar complications, and entirely original display mechanisms. He is best known internationally for the Joker, a wristwatch complication that uses the hour and minute subdials to form a stylised face, an idea that drew global attention when it launched and earned him a dedicated following among collectors who favour independent watchmaking.

When it comes to the Konstantin Chaykin watch collection on his own wrist, the watchmaker does not stray far from home. He has been photographed wearing his own work, most notably the Green Halloween, a variant of the Joker line that features a vivid green dial and leans into the creature-like aesthetic the brand has built its reputation around. Seeing Chaykin wear the Green Halloween is less a marketing gesture and more a straightforward expression of conviction — the man makes what he likes and likes what he makes. The Joker complication at the heart of the piece is a patented mechanism that repurposes conventional time display architecture to produce the watch's distinctive face-like reading.

The choice to wear his own most visually provocative reference says something concrete about Chaykin's position in the watch industry. He operates entirely outside the mainstream Swiss establishment, and wearing the Green Halloween in public settings reinforces that independence. For collectors tracking the Konstantin Chaykin watch collection, even a single confirmed sighting carries weight, because it points directly to which references the maker himself considers worth putting on his wrist.
