Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Ajman and a figure well-known in Gulf royal circles for his appreciation of serious horology, was recently photographed wearing a standout piece from Richard Mille's most technically ambitious family: a red-cased RM 11-01 Flyback Chronograph GMT, one of just 50 examples ever made, worn on a black rubber strap.

The Richard Mille RM 11-01 is built around a skeletonized automatic movement — calibre RMAC2 — developed in collaboration with Audemars Piguet Le Locle. It delivers flyback chronograph functionality, a GMT second time zone, and an annual calendar, all within a case that measures 50mm × 42.7mm and weighs remarkably little thanks to its NTPT Carbon construction. NTPT Carbon — North Thin Ply Technology — is a filament-wound composite originally developed for America's Cup yacht masts, and in this limited edition it has been treated to produce a vivid red coloration across the layers, giving each of the 50 pieces a subtly unique grain pattern. Water resistance is rated to 50 metres.

The RM 11 family has been a cornerstone of Richard Mille's catalogue since its introduction, representing the brand's full-dress approach to complication: not just a chronograph, not just a GMT, but both together with a calendar, housed in engineering-grade materials that no traditional Swiss manufacture was using at the time. Limited runs in coloured NTPT Carbon have consistently attracted collector attention because the material's appearance genuinely differs piece to piece — a rare form of individuality in an industry that prizes uniformity.

Sheikh Ammar is no stranger to high-complication timepieces and has been photographed with notable watches previously. His choice here reflects the RM 11-01's natural audience: collectors who appreciate mechanical density and unconventional materials over traditional precious-metal status signalling.

On the secondary market, red NTPT Carbon limited-edition Richard Mille references command significant premiums over list. The UK list price was reported at approximately £120,000. Given the 50-piece limitation and sustained demand for coloured NTPT references among Gulf and Asian collectors, grey-market values for this specific variant have tracked well above retail, with comparable examples changing hands in the $180,000–$220,000 range depending on condition and provenance.
