Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo spotted wearing Jacob & Co

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at the airport ahead of Manchester United's Europa League group-stage trip to Nicosia, Cyprus, with his wrist doing considerably more talking than his luggage. On that wrist sat what is arguably the most extravagant piece in his already staggering watch collection: the Jacob & Co x Cristiano Ronaldo Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Piece Unique, a commission executed in close collaboration between the New York-based haute horlogerie brand and the Portuguese forward himself.

The watch is built around Jacob & Co's JCAM37 manual-winding tourbillon movement, engineered to replicate the W16 quad-turbocharged engine of the Bugatti Chiron through an animated piston and crankshaft complication visible through the open-worked dial. The case itself is formed from white gold and encased almost entirely in 232 white baguette-cut diamonds on the bezel and case flanks, while 109 black sapphires tile the sculptural crown system and lower case — a deliberate nod to Bugatti's carbon-black aesthetic. The hours and minutes are indicated via cathedral-style hands in rose gold, and the 'CR7' logo is engraved prominently on the movement bridge — making this, by definition, not available to any other collector on earth.

From a horological standpoint, the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon series represents one of Jacob & Co's most technically ambitious undertakings. The movement's miniaturised engine animation runs at a frequency tied to the tourbillon escapement, and the entire mechanism is framed within a cushion-shaped sapphire crystal case construction that offers 360-degree visibility. Only a handful of references in this family exist globally, with the CR7 iteration being the sole example of its specific configuration.

Ronaldo has long been one of the most visible ambassadors for ultra-luxury watchmaking — his collection includes pieces from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, and Franck Muller — but the Jacob & Co Bugatti Piece Unique occupies a category entirely its own. It is not a watch bought off an authorised dealer's shelf; it is a bespoke object manufactured around a personality.

At a list price of approximately £890,000 — roughly $1,000,000 USD at time of commission — the Bugatti CR7 Piece Unique has no grey market, no comparable auction precedent, and no meaningful resale comparator. It is, by every measure, priceless to anyone other than its sole intended owner.
