Politician Hun Sen spotted wearing Patek Philippe

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has developed a well-documented reputation for wearing watches of extraordinary value, and his latest sighting confirms that pattern emphatically. The politician was photographed wearing a Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon in 18K white gold, reference 6002G, fitted with a deep blue enamel dial — arguably the most complex and decorative wristwatch the Geneva manufacture currently produces.

The ref. 6002G is a double-faced timepiece presenting 13 complications in total. The front dial shows hours, minutes, a tourbillon at 6 o'clock, a perpetual calendar with leap-year indication, and a minute repeater. Flip the case and the rear dial delivers a geocentric sky chart of the northern hemisphere, moon phase, and sidereal time — complications rooted in Patek's astronomical watchmaking tradition stretching back to the 19th century. The caliber R TO 27 QR SID LU CL movement is assembled and finished entirely in-house, with bridges decorated in Geneva stripes and beveled by hand.

What distinguishes the 6002G from its predecessor, the ref. 5002, is the hand-engraved case and bracelet. Patek's engravers apply scrollwork, floral motifs, and fine hatching across virtually every exposed metal surface — work that can consume several hundred hours per piece. Production is intentionally limited to a handful of examples per year, making allocation essentially theoretical for all but Patek's most established clients.

Hun Sen has been photographed previously with high-complication Patek Philippe references, suggesting either a deliberate collecting strategy or strong guidance from a trusted dealer. The Sky Moon Tourbillon occupies the very apex of wearable horology, sitting above even the Grand Complication ref. 5216 in terms of prestige and price. In diplomatic and state contexts, a watch of this caliber functions as a statement of a different kind.

At an official list price of approximately $1.5 million USD, the ref. 6002G was already rarefied at launch. On today's secondary market, authenticated examples in white gold with the blue dial command figures reported in the range of $7 million USD — a multiple that reflects genuine scarcity, not speculative inflation. For serious collectors, the 6002G represents Patek Philippe at its most uncompromising.
