Nusret Gökçe — the Turkish chef and restaurateur whose salt-sprinkling theatrics made him a global meme and a genuine hospitality mogul — was recently spotted wearing one of Patek Philippe's most opulent sport-watch references. On his wrist: a Nautilus 5719/10J, draped in factory pavé diamonds and set with vivid emerald baguette hour markers, all rendered in 18k yellow gold. It is not a subtle choice, and it was never meant to be.

The Nautilus 5719/10J is the jewellery-set variant of the core Nautilus 5711 family, sharing the same 40mm cushion-shaped case and horizontally embossed dial architecture that Gerald Genta sketched in 1976. Where the 5711 leans into understated sports-chic, the 5719 goes the opposite direction entirely. Patek's gem-setters cover the case flanks, integrated bracelet links, and bezel with brilliant-cut diamonds, while the dial itself is a full pavé field broken only by emerald-cut green stones at the hour positions and a discreet date aperture at 3 o'clock. The movement inside is the Calibre 324 S C — a self-winding manufacture movement with a 45-hour power reserve, 28,800 vph, and Patek's Gyromax balance and Spiromax hairspring.

From a collector standpoint, the 5719 occupies a peculiar space. It trades the restrained desirability of the standard 5711 — a reference whose waitlist became one of watchmaking's most discussed phenomena before its 2021 discontinuation — for unambiguous gem-set extravagance. The yellow gold and emerald combination references Patek's deep roots in high jewellery watchmaking, a tradition stretching back to the 19th century. It is a piece that appeals to a different collector profile: those for whom the Nautilus silhouette is the starting point, not the destination.

Salt Bae's watch wardrobe has always skewed toward statement pieces, and the 5719/10J is entirely consistent with his personal brand. He built Nusr-Et Steakhouse into a global chain known for eye-watering prices and maximalist presentation — a $1,000 tomahawk steak cut tableside is not unlike a $200,000 watch dripping in diamonds. The logic is the same: craft elevated to spectacle.

At retail, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5719/10J-010 carries a list price in the region of $200,000 USD, though certified pre-owned and grey-market examples have historically commanded significant premiums given the scarcity of full gem-set yellow gold Nautilus references on the secondary market.
