Who & what: Rolex Daytona Ceramic White Dial Stainless Steel Reference 116500LN – Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka, winner of four major championships including multiple US Open titles, was spotted wearing a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 116500LN in stainless steel with a white dial — one of the most recognisable and sought-after watches in contemporary horology.

The Rolex Daytona ref. 116500LN marked a watershed moment when Rolex unveiled it at Baselworld 2016. It was the first Daytona to feature a black Cerachrom ceramic bezel, replacing the older aluminium insert that had been in use since the ref. 116520 era. The white dial configuration — with its contrasting black subsidiary registers — delivers exceptional legibility and visual balance, and quickly became the more desirable of the two dial options at launch. Powering the watch is Rolex's in-house Calibre 4130, a column-wheel chronograph movement with a vertical clutch, offering approximately 72 hours of power reserve. The 40mm Oyster case carries 100 metres of water resistance, and the chronograph function reads to 1/8th of a second.

From a collector standpoint, the ref. 116500LN white dial occupies rare territory: a watch simultaneously loved by serious enthusiasts for its movement quality and by the broader luxury market for its aesthetic clarity. Authorised dealer waiting lists for this reference stretched years, pushing grey-market premiums to extraordinary levels through the late 2010s and early 2020s. While premiums have moderated from their 2021–2022 peaks, the white-dial 116500LN continues to trade well above retail on the secondary market.

Koepka's affinity for clean, confident style aligns well with the Daytona's motorsport heritage and understated execution. As one of professional golf's most physically imposing and mentally composed competitors, his choice of a technically serious but visually restrained sports chronograph reads as entirely authentic rather than performative.

At a UK list price of approximately £9,100 — roughly $11,500 USD at prevailing rates — the Rolex Daytona ref. 116500LN in white dial remains virtually unobtainable at retail. Grey-market values currently hover in the $18,000–$22,000 range for unworn examples, cementing its status as one of the defining steel sports watches of its generation.
