The Lip Nautic-Ski was introduced around 1967 and produced through the mid-1970s under various iterations. The version seen here features the classic configuration: a matte black dial with rectangular luminous hour markers, bold white printed indices for the diving scale around the chapter ring, a unidirectional-style rotating bezel with a dot at twelve and graduated minute markings, and the model name 'NAUTIC' printed in white just above six o'clock. The case is stainless steel, round, with pronounced crown at three, and the watch is fitted on a woven textile strap — period-correct and practical for marine use. A date aperture is visible at three o'clock. Movement inside was the Lip R148 or R184 calibre depending on production year — a reliable Swiss-base automatic modified and manufactured in Besançon, France.

From a collector's perspective, the Nautic-Ski occupies a unique position. It is one of the few French-made dive watches that can claim genuine tool-watch provenance rather than aspirational marketing. Lip, the Besançon manufacturer that famously became a symbol of French worker self-management during the 1973 factory occupation, produced watches with real horological substance. On the current vintage market, clean examples of the Lip Nautic-Ski — particularly those with intact dials, functioning bezels, and original straps — trade between €800 and €2,500 depending on condition and provenance. A documented Tabarly connection would, in theory, push any example well beyond that range. Retail pricing is not applicable for this discontinued vintage reference.
