About Giovanna Amati’s watch collection
Giovanna Amati is an Italian racing driver and pilot who made history as one of the few women to compete at the highest level of single-seater motorsport. Born in Rome in 1962, she built her career through Formula 3000 and various European championships before securing a seat with the Brabham Formula 1 team for the 1992 season. She attempted to qualify for three Grands Prix — South Africa, Mexico and Brazil — behind the wheel of the Brabham BT60B, a car widely regarded as uncompetitive even by the standards of the mid-grid teams of that era. Though she did not make the race grid, her presence in F1 remains significant: she was the last woman to attempt to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix for over three decades, until others followed in testing and development roles. Away from F1, Amati is also a licensed pilot, adding another dimension to a life built around speed and precision.
