Footballer Roberto Firmino spotted wearing a Hyt

Roberto Firmino was recently spotted on the wrist of one of football's most distinctive creative players — and the choice of timepiece was entirely in character. The HYT H0, a watch that dispenses with traditional hands in favour of living fluid mechanics, is precisely the kind of technically daring statement piece that sets serious collectors apart from those simply buying brand recognition.
HYT, the Neuchâtel-based manufacture founded in 2012, built its entire identity around hydro-mechanical timekeeping. The H0 reference is the distillation of that philosophy: a 48.8mm grade-5 titanium case houses a proprietary movement — the calibre 101 — developed in collaboration with movement specialist Audemars Piguet Le Locle. Two micro-bellows, driven by the mechanical movement, compress and expand to push a column of fluorescent yellow liquid and a column of transparent fluid around a curved capillary tube set into the lower half of the dial. The meniscus between the two liquids marks the current hour. At 6 o'clock, the fluids retrogradely reset — one of the most visually dramatic moments in modern watchmaking. Subsidiary seconds and a hand-wound power reserve of approximately 65 hours complete the specification.
Within collector circles, the H0 occupies a specific niche: it is the entry point into HYT's catalogue, but entry point is a relative term. The watch remains a serious feat of micro-engineering, and its architectural dial — exposed movement architecture visible through the skeletonised upper half — demands attention. Limited production numbers and HYT's boutique manufacturing scale ensure these pieces never flood the market.
Firmino's taste for bold, expressive style — visible throughout his career at Liverpool and now Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia — maps naturally onto a brand that has always prioritised concept over convention. The H0 is not a watch for someone seeking heritage credibility; it is for someone comfortable with the avant-garde.
On the secondary market, HYT H0 examples trade in a range that reflects both the watch's complexity and relatively modest brand recognition outside hardcore horological circles, representing genuine value for a movement of this engineering ambition.
