Dr. Adel Quttainah, widely regarded as one of the world's foremost plastic surgeons, was photographed crouching in a desert landscape, a gyrfalcon perched on his gloved hand — and on his wrist, the unmistakable silhouette of an MB&F Horological Machine No. 6 Final Edition. The juxtaposition of falconry, one of humanity's oldest crafts, with one of contemporary watchmaking's most futuristic creations is striking, and entirely on-brand for a collector of Quttainah's calibre.

Launched originally in 2014, the Horological Machine No. 6 — nicknamed 'Space Pirate' — represents Max Büsser and Friends at its most architecturally ambitious. The biomorphic case, crafted in grade 5 titanium, houses an in-house developed automatic movement featuring a flying tourbillon visible through the central sapphire porthole. The case measures approximately 49mm and integrates four 360-degree rotating spheres at each corner, each capped by dual sapphire crystal domes. The forward two spheres display hours and minutes via rotating discs; the rear two function as spherical turbines — a patented mechanism that regulates rotor speed, reducing stress and wear on the automatic winding system.

The Final Edition, which brought the HM6 family to a close, was limited to a small production run and offered in several configurations, including titanium and white gold variants. The movement, developed in collaboration with Chronode, beats at 18,000 vph and offers approximately 72 hours of power reserve. The level of hand-finishing across the case's compound curves is exceptional, demanding extraordinary skill from both the movement makers and case manufacturers.

Among serious horological collectors, the HM6 occupies a rare position: it is simultaneously a piece of wearable kinetic sculpture and a technically credible watchmaking achievement. The flying tourbillon, the turbine winding system, and the spherical time display are not aesthetic gimmicks — each solves a genuine engineering problem in an unconventional way. For this reason, HM6 examples consistently perform well at auction and in the grey market.

Dr. Quttainah is a well-known figure in Gulf luxury circles, with a taste for avant-garde horology that mirrors his professional precision. The HM6 Final Edition on his wrist confirms a collection built not on brand recognition alone, but on a genuine understanding of mechanical complexity.
