Who & what: Stainless Steel Rolex Submariner 'Hulk' Reference 116610LV – Rashed Belhasa

Rashed Belhasa, the Dubai-based YouTuber and boxer known for his extravagant lifestyle content, was recently spotted wearing the Rolex Submariner Date reference 116610LV — the piece collectors have long called the 'Hulk' — on his wrist during one of his characteristically high-energy appearances.

Introduced in 2010, the Rolex Submariner 116610LV was the first Submariner to pair the brand's proprietary green Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert with a matching green lacquered sunray dial. The 40mm Oyster case in 904L stainless steel houses the in-house Calibre 3135 movement, a self-winding perpetual rotor mechanism offering approximately 48 hours of power reserve, a Parachrom hairspring for anti-magnetic resistance, and Rolex's Paraflex shock absorbers. Water resistance is rated to 300 metres, underscoring its tool-watch credentials beneath the dressy green livery.

The 116610LV holds a particular place in the collector hierarchy precisely because Rolex retired it in 2020, replacing it with the 41mm Submariner reference 126610LV — instantly dubbed the 'Starbucks' for its two-tone black-and-green bezel. The original Hulk's mono-green aesthetic, divisive at launch, has since become a defining look. Discontinued references with strong nickname recognition tend to appreciate, and the Hulk is a textbook example: grey-market values have climbed well above retail since production ceased.

Belhasa, son of prominent Emirati businessman Saif Ahmed Belhasa, built his own following through YouTube and social media documenting a world of rare animals, luxury cars and high-end watches. With over three million subscribers, he represents a new generation of Gulf-based content creators for whom horological flex is woven naturally into the brand. The 116610LV fits that profile — recognisable enough for a non-watch audience, serious enough for collectors.

At official Rolex retail, the 116610LV listed at approximately $9,100 USD before discontinuation. On today's grey market, the Hulk trades firmly around $28,000 USD, a premium that reflects both its discontinued status and enduring nickname cachet. For a piece once dismissed as garish, the market has delivered a clear verdict.
