Jas Mathur, founder and CEO of the wellness and lifestyle company Limitless, was recently spotted wearing one of the rarest objects in contemporary watchmaking: the Richard Mille RM 68-01 Tourbillon in black TZP ceramic, produced in collaboration with Parisian graffiti and street art legend Cyril Kongo. With a production run capped at just 30 numbered pieces, the sighting is a reminder that the most coveted watches rarely appear on anyone's wrist — let alone in public.
The RM 68-01 was unveiled in 2018 as a direct artistic partnership between Richard Mille and Cyril Kongo, whose work spans gallery installations, live performance painting, and luxury brand collaborations. The defining element of each watch is its case, crafted from black TZP zirconia ceramic — a material chosen for its extreme hardness (second only to diamond among watch-grade ceramics) and deep, light-absorbing finish. Kongo applied his signature polychromatic linework to the case and dial by hand, meaning no two RM 68-01 references are visually identical despite sharing the same reference number.
Powering the watch is Richard Mille's CRMT2 manual-winding tourbillon calibre, developed with movement specialist Renaud & Papi. The skeletonised movement features a variable-inertia balance wheel, a fast-rotating barrel for consistent power delivery across its roughly 70-hour power reserve, and grade 5 titanium and aluminium components selected for their strength-to-weight ratios. The tourbillon cage itself is architecturally exposed, consistent with Richard Mille's philosophy of treating movement architecture as the primary aesthetic statement.
From a collector standpoint, the RM 68-01 occupies a specific and very narrow intersection: ultra-limited Richard Mille tourbillon production combined with documented, named-artist provenance. That combination has historically compressed the resale supply to near zero. Authenticated examples command significant premiums over original retail, with credible market estimates currently placing valuations around $2 million — roughly triple the $685,000 list price.
Mathur's affinity for high-complication timepieces is well established within luxury watch circles. His choice of the RM 68-01 over more conventional trophy watches signals genuine collector intent rather than mere status signalling — and puts one of watchmaking's most elusive references back in the conversation.
