Among the lots was a 1940s Zenith 18K pink-gold chronograph retailed by Tourneau — a watch with a provenance chain that reads like a mid-century Hollywood guest list.

The watch presents a warm salmon-hued dial typical of aged pink-gold-cased Zenith pieces from the era. Tourneau's name appears above Zenith's on the dial, confirming the piece was retailed through the New York institution — a common practice for Swiss manufactures seeking American market penetration in the postwar decades. The dial features bold Arabic numerals, blued-steel hands, two subsidiary counters at approximately 3 and 9 o'clock for elapsed minutes and running seconds, and a crisp outer pulsometer/tachymeter scale. The case, in 18K pink gold, retains elegant pre-war proportions — likely measuring 38mm or under — with a round profile and polished surfaces consistent with Zenith's Calibre 146 or closely related ebauche family used in 1940s column-wheel chronographs.

It was originally owned by Mario Lanza, the Philadelphia-born operatic tenor and MGM film star whose Beverly Hills home neighboured the Blanc family property. Lanza and Blanc were close friends; the watch passed to Blanc as a personal gift or bequest, embedding it in two parallel Hollywood narratives simultaneously.

At auction, the piece achieved $20,000 — a result that reflects both the strength of the double provenance and the inherent desirability of 18K pink-gold Zenith chronographs from the 1940s. On the open vintage market, comparable Zenith pink-gold chronographs of the period without provenance trade in the $8,000–$18,000 range; the Lanza/Blanc connection justified a meaningful premium and will likely appreciate further as both estates attract renewed cultural interest.
