Golfer Patrick Reed spotted wearing a Hublot

Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters champion known for playing with the kind of edge that makes galleries uncomfortable and opponents nervous, was recently spotted wearing a Hublot Big Bang Ferrari White Ceramic Carbon — reference 401.HQ.0121.VR — one of just 500 examples produced under the Swiss brand's long-running Scuderia Ferrari partnership.
The ref. 401.HQ.0121.VR runs at 45mm and combines two of Hublot's most technically complex materials: a microblasted white ceramic bezel and a forged carbon fiber composite case. White ceramic is notoriously difficult to produce without imperfection — the sintering process demands precise temperature control — making it a legitimate manufacturing achievement rather than a marketing talking point. The dial picks up Ferrari's racing red accents, and the skeleton architecture exposes the HUB4700 UNICO caliber, an in-house column-wheel flyback chronograph beating at 28,800 vph with a 72-hour power reserve. The movement was developed entirely within Hublot's Nyon manufacture and represents a meaningful step forward from the brand's earlier reliance on ETA and Valjoux bases.
Within the broader Hublot Big Bang Ferrari collection, the white ceramic carbon variant occupies a specific collector niche. The standard carbon references in this family are relatively accessible; the white ceramic execution is harder to source and carries stronger secondary-market retention precisely because the production run was contained and the material combination is not replicated across other references. It consistently outperforms standard Big Bang references at auction on a percentage-over-retail basis.
Reed's choice tracks logically. Hublot has maintained deep roots in professional golf — the brand serves as Official Timekeeper of the Ryder Cup — and several tour players appear regularly in Hublot pieces. Reed's public persona, combative and self-assured, maps naturally onto a watch that has always divided opinion. The Ferrari branding amplifies that dynamic.
The UK list price was positioned at £21,000 at launch. In current USD grey market conditions, strong examples of the 401.HQ.0121.VR trade modestly above retail given the limited production and persistent demand from dual Ferrari and Hublot collector communities.
